Hello All!

As promised here we have a little insight into last month’s Photo Contest “Architecture” Winner!

Dave has always known that he wanted to be an artist. In high school he was awarded the John F. Kennedy Award for Excellence in Art in Cape Cod, MA.

During the Vietnam era, Dave joined the Air Force and was able to get into the art field, where he was trained as a “Graphics Illustrator”, working mostly on hand lettering flip charts, publications and overhead slides.

After his discharge, he found a job at a local Anchorage Ad Agency where he rose from paste–up to Art Director and then Creative Director and Copywriter in the period of 3 years.

Dave’s clients have included the Alaska Oil Pipeline and several Home Builders and Real Estate companies in Alaska and Upstate New York, in addition to some Magazine Publishers and other freelance jobs.

He has also worked at two separate screen-print shops illustrating and printing sports and fashion garments.

Dave’s Graphic Design career lastes for almost 40 years.

After this wonderful journey, Dave grew tired of selling everyone else’s products and decided to go into the field he originally planned for, as an illustrator. He self–taught himself how to be an illustrator and he is now plying the trade. Most recently he finished a children’s book, which is soon to be published.

Dave works in several methods and styles, both digital and traditional mediums.

While living in Alaska he also started learning some photography, once again, self-taught, with an old Zeiss Ikon camera that he bought at a pawn shop.
